Paradise Beach :
Paradise beach can be reached from Auroville after traveling 24 km. Paradise beach is certainly the best beach in Pondicherry. It is clean, serene and a calm white sand beach. Very picturesque. It has nice shacks, changing rooms, showers and clean toilets. Snacks are also available at the beach.

Gingee fort :
Gingee fort is one of the best places to visit in Pondicherry. The Fort is declared as a National Monument in 1921. Gingee fort is also called Senji, Chenji, Jinji or Senchi fort. There are actually Two hills namely Raja hills and Rani hills. The best time for visiting there is morning before 10 am. We will feel adventurous trips while trekking. There are three hillocks and reach the top one has to take a challenging trek for about an hour.
We can explore all the exquisite interiors of the fort. There are tanks, granaries, halls, marriage halls, and some more exotic spots. Cameras are allowed to be carried inside, so it makes a good place for some photography.
The ownership of Fort changed many hands from Cholas to Nayakas to Marathas then Mughals, later it annexed to the French kingdom and ultimately, the British Empire put its stamp on it.
Its architecture is exceptionally great. The complex of this fort is in the triangle shape. The parameter as we could say it is, around 13 km and the protected area of the complex is 11 sq.km. Perhaps, this makes it the grandest triangle in the world.
Shivaji, certainly out of his experience, said that the fort is ‘The most impregnable fortress in India’. The British were no less enthralled with its splendor and proudly titled it, ‘The Troy of the East’.
Sri Gokilambal Thirukameswar Temple :
Sri Gokilambal Thirukameswar temple is also called a Villianur temple. Brahmotsavam is a famous festival, which attracts more devotees from all over India and that occurs ten days continuously. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
This temple consists little bit of french heritage not in the architecture in its traditions. It has a huge 15 meters tall temple chariot that is normally taken out in a procession during the Brahmotsavam, which is basically the annual festival of Pondicherry.

French War Memorial / Kargil war Memorial:
The French War Memorial on Goubert Avenue at Pondicherry is a reminder of brave soldiers who laid down their lives for their country during the First World War. It was built in 1971. Every year on 14 July (Bastille Day) the memorial is beautifully illuminated and homage is paid to those brave martyrs. This is located opposite to the Gandhi statue.
